Are you ready to prepare your home for Hurricane Season?
Here are a few helpful tips to help you prepare for the storm.
- Take an Inventory of your belongings including photos. Take it upon yourself to have both a digital log and list of home inventory.
- Make sure you have a copy of all of your important papers in one safe place. Be sure to include warranty deeds, insurance policy information, emergency contacts, and any other items you might need.
- Fill any prescriptions that you have or might need in the few weeks following the storm.
- Be sure to have enough food and water in case you lose power for a few weeks.
- Don’t forget the pets! Be sure you have spare food and water for them also.
- Consider installing hurricane shutters to any openings including windows, doors, and garage doors.
- Tie down or store any items outside that can become wind borne debris- grills, swing sets, pool equipment/furniture, trash cans, and/or any other items outside.
- Trim the trees/shrubs to make them less likely to damage your home.
- Know your emergency evacuation plan, and share this with your family members.
